SRD Grant Payment Schedule for December 2023

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has officially announced the payment schedule for the SRD Grant in December 2023. Only individuals who have been approved for grant payments will receive their funds during the current week.

Early Processing and Conclusion of Payments

SRD grant payments for December will be processed from December 18 to December 22, 2023. Unlike the usual practice of payments in the final week of a calendar month, this deviation is due to two public holidays falling in the last week of December. Sassa does not disburse grants on weekends or public holidays, necessitating the expedited payment schedule.

Allow for SASSA Processing Time

Beneficiaries are reminded that payments may take a few days to reflect in their bank accounts. The funds are expected to appear in the client’s account approximately 2 to 3 working days after the payment has been processed.

Options for Receiving SRD Grant Payments

SRD grant beneficiaries have the flexibility to receive their grants through direct deposit into their bank accounts, ensuring quick access to the funds. For those without a personal bank account, the Cashsend payment option is available, allowing beneficiaries to use their ID number and phone number, provided they have a cellphone with a registered number and valid proof of identification.

Additionally, grant recipients can collect their R350 grant at various retail outlets nationwide, including Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer stores.

Checking SRD Grant Application Status and Appeal Process

Sassa encourages grant beneficiaries to regularly check the status of their SRD grant application on the SRD website. In the event of a rejection, applicants can submit an appeal to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). During the payment week, clients are advised to monitor the SRD website for the specific date when the payment will reflect in their bank accounts.
