Here’s the biggest deal of the year for poor and working South African families looking for financial aid. Students requiring financial assistance are invited to apply for NSFAS 2024 at all South African TVET colleges and public universities.
NSFAS began accepting applications in 20 September 2024, and this is the last notification before the closing date of 31st January 2025. NSFAS 2025 aims to support access to, and success in, higher education and training for students from poor families.
Access The NSFAS Login
In order to apply to NSFAS, as well as to stay current with the application process, students should set up their own MyNSFAS accounts. Online registration is a simple process. The following steps should be followed:
- Click on MyNSFAS account on the website, www.nsfas.org.za.
- Fill in the appropriate fields with your username and password.
- Select the My Personal Details tab.
- Please enter your most recent email address and cellphone number.
- Continue by clicking Update Your Details.
- Upon entering your email address and cellphone number, you will receive a One-Time-Pin (OTP).
- Enter the OTP in the appropriate field as soon as you receive it, then click b.
- Your personal account will display the details you have entered.
Google and Facebook Accounts allow you to log in with your username and password.
Change NSFAS Login Details
You can also change your account details, or NSFAS Applications, if necessary. Here are the steps you need to take to make these changes, whatever the reason may be:
- First, visit the MyNSFAS student portal.
- To log in, input your username, password, then click on SIGN IN.
- Once you get in, click on My Personal Details.
- All incorrect or outdated information must be deleted and replaced with accurate and up-to-date information.
- You can update your details by clicking the Update Your Details button. Your login details will be saved after this step.

NSFAS Status Check Using ID Number
Using your ID number, you can check your NSFAS status. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Go to the MyNSFAS portal
Visit the MyNSFAS portal at https://my.nsfas.org.za/Account/Login.
Step 2: Log in to your account
Enter your username and password to log in to your MyNSFAS account. Please click “Register” if you do not have an account.
Step 3: Check your NSFAS status
You can view your NSFAS application status after you log in by clicking the “My Application” button. If you have been provisionally funded, fully funded, or not funded, you will be able to see that information.

NSFAS Requirements 2025 to Apply For Form
- The applicant owns a cell phone number and an email address
- A copy of the applicant’s ID or birth certificate
- Copies of parents’, guardians’, or spouse’s identification (if applicable)
- Proof of income or IRP5 for one year (if applicable)
- Proof of income from your parents, guardians, or spouse
- SASSA Grant Recipients do not need to provide proof of income
- A Disability Annexure Form must be completed and signed by applicants with disabilities
- A Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form must be completed and signed by an applicant identified by the Department of Social Development as a Vulnerable Child.

How To Access MyNSFAS Portal?
You can access your myNSFAS portal by following these steps:

- Please enter your username and password for myNSFAS.

If a funding decision has been made for the bursary scheme, you should be able to see your NSFAS status. Later, you should be able to see your payments. You can either pay your allowance through your mobile wallet or through your institution.
How To Unlock MyNSFAS Account?
You can access your NSFAS Wallet in your NSFAS account. The NSFAS system allows you to withdraw cash or make purchases from any merchant registered with it. You receive an allowance based on your consultations with various institutions. When you register, they communicate with NSFAS. It is possible, however, to get a message saying that your account is locked when you try to access it.
The password for your NSFAS Wallet may have been entered incorrectly more than 3 times consecutively. Your account is protected by this security measure to prevent unauthorized access. Passwords must be memorized in order to prevent this from happening.
The process may seem daunting if you’re a first-time user, but in reality, it’s pretty straightforward. To access this part of your account, you must first access your wallet. You can do this by following these steps:
- An SMS message will be sent to you when you activate your NSFAS wallet.
- Verify your account by dialing 134176# after opening the message.
- Please reply to the message with your ID number as well.
- A password will be sent to you after a few moments.
- If you need to make a transaction, use this password.
- Keep this password secure and in your mind at all times. Keep this password (or any other passwords) off your cellphone as much as possible.
In case you find yourself unable to access your account because it’s locked, follow these steps to unlock it:
- Enter your username and password to access your account.
- Visit NSFAS Connect.
- Start a case
- Take a photo of your ID document using your cellphone.
- Please enter your cellphone number.
- Your case should be stated.

How To Delete MyNSFAS Account?
In order to delete your NSFAS account, you must submit a written request to the NSFAS office. If you have any questions about this request, you can email NSFAS.
How To Create MyNSFAS Student Portal Account?
NSFAS now allows you to create a student portal account. Using the online portal, you can create an account or log in to regulate specific academic activities.
Visit https://my.nsfas.org.za to access the NSFAS login from your cellphone or computer. You can already access this portal if you already have an account.
How To Re-Register MyNSFAS Portal?
You can re-register on the MyNSFAS portal if your account is no longer active. Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za
- Click on MyNSFAStab
- Click on register
- Tick the box that will allow NSFAS to verify the details you provide.
- Input your ID number.
- Input your complete name.
- Input your current email address.
- Input your email address again to confirm it.

- Make a case for it
- Please submit a photo of your ID
- Enter your cellphone number

How To Reset MyNSFAS Portal Password?
Follow these simple steps to reset your password on the NSFAS portal if you entered the wrong password or forgot it:
- Enter your ID number after clicking the Forgot Your Password button.
- You will receive the OTP via your cellphone or email.
- Click on Submit after entering the OTP in the appropriate field.
- Your new password has been entered.
Why Is My MyNSFAS Closed?
You cannot access the NSFAS login if you haven’t accessed your account in a long time. In this case, the most common reason is that you haven’t accessed your account in a long time. If you think this is an error, please contact NSFAS immediately.
