Child Grant Boost for 2024

The Federal South African Government is set to enhance child support to lower-income families in 2024. To address the challenges posed by rising inflation and related factors, the Child Grant Boost will increase from R500 to R510 per eligible family.

Implementation Details

The anticipated boost is a response to economic conditions, with the government allocating R66 billion for assistance in 2024. By March 31, 2024, R36 billion is slated for disbursement. The boost, constituting a 5.6% increase from the previous payment, is scheduled to commence from January 5, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for Child Grant 2024

To qualify for the Child Grant Boost 2024, individuals must meet specific eligibility criteria:

  • South African citizenship
  • Not receiving any other SASSA social security grants
  • Household income below R86,280 (for a single individual with a child) or R172,560 (for a couple with a child)
  • Child under the age of 18
  • Permanent resident status for the household
